If you have this problem, you can do several things. The first thing you could do is check the water pressure. The ‘safe zone’ for the water pressure is 30-50 psi. If the water pressure is more than 60 psi for an extended period time, the pressure may be a problem. If you’re suspicious that you have a leak but you’re not positive where it it’s hiding, here is a simple way you can check. Look at your water meter, monitor and right down the level. Ensure that no one uses any water in your house for one to two hours. Now go back and note the level. If the level has changed, then you likely have a leak. Definitely. Making sure that your garbage disposal is working properly is important. In order to get the optimal life of your garbage disposal, these items should not be put in your garbage disposal:

  • Potato skins
  • Bone fragments and eggshells
  • Banana peels
  • Fats / grease
  • Unpopped popcorn kernels
  • Onion skins
  • Fruit pits and seeds
  • Stringy vegetables like asparagus and celery
